Program Record 18 Swimmers Head to Olympic Trials

DURHAM, N.C. – A program record 18 Duke swimmers will descend upon Omaha, Neb., over the next week to compete the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, slated for June 26-July 3 at the CenturyLink Center.

The field of 1,800 of the fastest swimmers in the country will include 13 returning members of the Blue Devil program, as well as four incoming freshmen and one alumna in 2011 graduate Ashley Twichell.

An All-American in the 1,650-yard freestyle during her collegiate career and a standout in open water swimming since graduating, Twichell enters the trials seeded 10th in the 800-meter freestyle and 16th in the 400 freestyle.
