ELON, N.C. – The Duke women’s cross country team opened the 2019 campaign with a fourth place showing under the lights of the Elon Opener Friday evening.
“Tonight was a lot of fun watching the women execute their race plan,” said head coach Rhonda Riley. “They were very controlled for three laps and when the fourth lap came they pushed the pace. Overall it was a great evening for everyone.”
Elon took the top spot with 56 points, followed by North Carolina (59) and Campbell (62).
Sara Platek finished first for the Blue Devils and second overall as the junior clocked a time of 14:11.
