SALEM, S.C. -- Sophomore Adrien Pendaries owns the outright lead after the opening round and the No. 9 Duke men’s golf team sits in third place at the Clemson Invitational entering the weekend.
Pendaries fired an eight-under par 64 in Friday’s opening round and holds a two-stroke lead over Clemson’s Bryson Nimmer. No. 8 Georgia Tech shot a 16-under 272 and leads the 15-team tournament by one over No. 14 Georgia, by three over the Blue Devils and by 11 over No. 17 Clemson with 36 holes remaining.
The 64 by Pendaries matches the career low round he fired in the opening round of the Louisville Cardinal Challenge this fall.
