LIVERPOOL, England -- Duke freshman Sophia Parvizi-Wayne, competing at the European Cross Country Championship Trials, posted a 16th-place finish Saturday morning in Liverpool, England. Parvizi-Wayne participated in the U20 contest.
Parvizi-Wayne covered the 4.4-kilometer distance, held at Sefton Park, in a time of 15:29, averaging 5:39 per mile during the race. Saturday's meet marked just the third competition of Parvizi-Wayne’s cross country season, after the London, England, native placed 18th overall at the Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 24 and 15th at the ACC Championships Oct. 28. Parvizi-Wayne’s 15th-place finish at the conference meet earned her all-conference honors.
