Duke didn’t have to wait long after its loss to North Carolina to learn its NCAA Tournament fate. The Blue Devils were placed in the Midwest as the second seed. Ohio State was the top seed, Nebraska third, St. John’s fourth.
Duke came back from Charlotte battered and bruised. But not beaten.
There were reasons for optimism.
Certainly Duke’s dismal performance against North Carolina in the ACC Tournament title game wasn’t the way Duke wanted to go into March Madness.
