When Marshall Plumlee decided to give up a lucrative life in professional basketball to be a mere soldier, it probably baffled a lot of people because even overseas, he could have made great money.
For Plumlee, though, it wasn't about the money. It was about, as Coach K has so often said, being part of something bigger than yourself:
“Every time I got to serve in the National Guard, it was a great feeling. It never felt like work,” Plumlee told the New York Post. “I kept getting that itch and wanted to serve in a different capacity.
