DURHAM, N.C. – On this day in Duke Athletics history, the second-ranked Duke women's tennis team won its 17th ACC Championship title on April 22, 2012 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The championship marked the eighth under head coach Jamie Ashworth.
The top-seeded Blue Devils in the tournament took down eighth-ranked North Carolina, 4-2.
Ashworth helped guide the Blue Devils to seven other ACC titles after being named head coach in 1997.
Duke also saw great success in the late '80s and throughout the '90s, winning 14 ACC Championship titles in a row.
