NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Kicking off the ACC Fencing Championships Saturday at the Castellan Family Fencing Center in the Joyce Center Fieldhouse in Notre Dame, Ind., sophomore Dakota Nollner highlighted the day for Duke, placing second in the men’s epee competition, while the Blue Devil women took second in the team event.
Starting with the men’s individual tournaments, Duke advanced one fencer to the semifinals in each of the three weapons. In the men’s epee competition, Nollnerwent10-5 with a +19 indicator in pool play, then earned a 15-12 victory over Boston College’s Peter Wetzel in the semifinals.
