PITTSBURGH, Pa. – No. 9 Duke (41-7, 19-3 ACC) advanced to the semifinals of the 2022 ACC Championship, defeating seventh-seeded Georgia Tech, 9-6, on Thursday night at Vartabedian Field on the campus of Pittsburgh.
The Blue Devils used nine runs, four home runs and 12 hits to power past Georgia Tech (37-16, 11-13 ACC). Jala Wright (12-2) allowed just three hits and two runs to secure the win in the circle, striking out four Yellow Jacket batters.
Duke was the first to strike in the opening frame, as Gisele Tapia used a 13-pitch at bat to assist her teammates.
