DURHAM, N.C. – The sixth-ranked Duke women’s fencing team closed out the annual Duke Meet Sunday afternoon in Card Gymnasium with a 3-2 overall record on the weekend. The women’s foil squad posted a perfect 5-0 ledger to make the foil contingent undefeated through the two-day event.
The No. 6 women picked up wins over Air Force (20-7) and ACC foes Boston College (20-7) and 2018 ACC women’s team champion North Carolina (16-11). The Blue Devils fell only two No. 2 Northwestern (14-13) and No. 4 Penn State (14-13) by one bout each.
The women were led by junior saberist Lindsay Sapienza with a team-leading 12 victories on the day followed by senior foilist Rhiannon Harvey with a nearly flawless 10-1 ledger.
