SYRACUSE, N.Y.—Syracuse freshman Jamie Trimboli scored 40 seconds into overtime to lift the fifth-ranked Orange to a 12-11 victory over No. 11 Duke in ACC men’s lacrosse action Saturday afternoon. The loss ends a five-game win streak for the Blue Devils.
Duke falls to 7-3 overall and 0-1 against ACC foes, while Syracuse improves to 6-1 and 2-0 in league action. The game featured six ties and four lead changes with neither team sporting more than a two-goal advantage. Sergio Salcido led all Orange players with two goals and two assists.
Trailing 8-6, Duke’s largest deficit of the game, after 45 minutes of lacrosse, the Blue Devils went on a 5-1 run over a span of nine minutes to take back the lead 11-9 with 6:29 to play in the period.
