DURHAM, N.C. – Freshman Hannah Miller led the offense with two goals and redshirt senior goalkeeper Sammi Steele tallied five saves as the No. 4 Duke field hockey team defeated Richmond, 3-0, at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Miller's first goal came at the 5:16 mark of the first quarter as she received a pass from freshman Josie Varney inside the box for the score. The assist from Varney was the first point of her Blue Devil career. Sophomore Leah Crouse extended the Duke lead to 2-0 after gathering a rebound inside the circle at the 44:45 mark of the third quarter.
