DURHAM, N.C. – In a low scoring affair, No. 5 Louisville's third quarter goal proved enough as the No. 4 Duke Blue Devil field hockey team fell to the Cardinals, 1-0, at home at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Louisville's Madison Walsh scored at the 35:44 mark of the third quarter, as the ball connected with the back-right corner of the goal after a deflection from a Duke defender.
Louisville led in shots, 9-7, while Duke led in penalty corners 6-2.
Duke is back in action tomorrow at home against non-conference opponent Richmond.
