DURHAM, N.C. – Senior attackman Justin Guterding scored six goals and goalkeeper Danny Fowler made 10 saves to lead No. 3 Duke to a 14-4 win over visiting Richmond in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium.
With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 5-1 while the Spiders fall to 2-3.
After trailing 2-1 at the end of one period, the Blue Devils outscored Richmond by an 8-0 count in the second frame to take control of the game. In the pivotal second quarter, Guterding scored four consecutive goals in a span of 2:30 while the Duke defense forced eight Spider turnovers, limited Richmond to just four shots and successfully thwarted one man-advantage opportunity.
