DURHAM, N.C. – The third-ranked Duke women’s tennis team defeated 22nd-ranked Virginia, 6-1, Sunday afternoon inside Ambler Tennis Stadium in Durham, N.C. With the victory, the Blue Devils are now 15-2 overall and 7-1 in ACC play while the Cavaliers fall to 12-5 and 5-4 in conference action.
“We need to be a better closing team,” head coach Jamie Ashworth said. “We did a really good job of putting ourselves in position with really good first sets, but mid-way through today, I thought we took our foot off the gas a bit.
