DURHAM – Second-ranked Duke (30-3, 10-2 ACC) used a five-run fifth inning to defeat Charlotte (21-14, 8-4 AAC), 6-1, in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night at Duke Softball Stadium.
The Blue Devils' offense was led by senior Kelly Torres and sophomore D'Auna Jennings, batting 2-for-3 at the plate with one run. Torres also tallied one RBI during the contest. Senior Claire Davidson and freshman Amiah Burgess also supported Duke's cause, combining to drive in four of the six runs, while finishing 1-for-2 and 1-for-1, respectively.
