CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Playing in his first career NCAA Tournament game, Duke attackman Michael Sowers recorded eight points to lead the second-seeded Blue Devils to a 16-10 win over High Point in the first round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship Sunday afternoon on Dorrance Field.
Duke (13-2) advances to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the 18th time in program history. High Point ends its season with an 8-6 overall record after advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
Sowers finished his evening with four goals and four assists, marking the 11th time in program history a Blue Devil has registered at least eight points in a NCAA Tournament game.
