DURHAM, N.C. – The 15th-ranked Duke field hockey team outlasted No. 3 Louisville, 4-3, in a shootout on Senior Day Saturday afternoon on Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium.
After ending regulation and two overtime periods deadlocked at 3-3, the Blue Devils (4-11, 2-3 ACC) recorded the thrilling 5-4 edge in the shootout to hand the Cardinals (12-5, 2-3) their fifth loss of the year. Duke's last shootout resulted in a 1-0 win at Louisville on Oct. 12, 2018.
Following five chances by both teams to begin the shootout, the score was tied at 4-4, which forced additional shots.
