CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The 13th-ranked Duke women’s lacrosse team was unable to slow eighth-ranked Virginia in a 17-11 loss to the Cavaliers Saturday at Klöckner Stadium.
Trailing 12-4 at the intermission, the Blue Devils outscored Virginia 8-5 in the second half but could not complete the comeback. The loss, Duke’s first of the season in ACC play, dropped the squad to 7-3 (2-1 ACC).
For the contest, the Blue Devils led 20-11 at the draw behind seven draw controls by freshman midfielder Maddie Jenner and six each by senior Olivia Jenner and sophomore Catriona Barry.
