DURHAM – The No. 13 Duke softball program (9-2, 0-0 ACC) used three home runs to recover from an early deficit, defeating Elon (7-3, 0-0 CAA) 5-4 on Wednesday night at Duke Softball Stadium.
The Phoenix were the first on the board after a scoreless first inning, scoring four runs in the top of the second inning. Elon loaded the bases behind two hit by pitches and a walk and were able to accumulate the runs off a bases loaded walk and two RBI singles.
The Blue Devils would not be down for long, as they began the third inning with back-to-back singles from Claire Davidson and Ana Gold.
