COLUMBUS, Ohio – No. 1 Duke held an eight-point lead with five minutes remaining, but Ohio State roared back with a 14-1 run to close it out as the Blue Devils were dealt their first loss of the season, falling 71-66 on Tuesday night at Value City Arena.
After E.J. Liddell hit a mid-range jumper to put the Buckeyes (5-2) up 69-66 with 15 seconds remaining, Duke (7-1) pushed the ball down the floor and found freshman Paolo Banchero for a potential game-tying three-pointer. Banchero's three rimmed out and the rebound was grabbed by Cedric Russell, who was quickly fouled and made a pair of free throws at the other end to secure the Ohio State victory.
