Over in the forums, someone brought up a fantastic metaphor for Duke’s status on the NCAA Tournament bubble: the Blue Devils are trying to come back from an in-game deficit, and the loss to Louisville (combined with the results from other bubble teams) was akin to losing time on the clock without gaining any ground. This is undeniably a setback. But that deficit is more similar to a 5 point one with 4 minutes to go (i.e., a game you’re more likely than not to lose, but also one that a good team will pull out a decent amount) rather than a double-digit deficit with a minute to go.
