Moses Malone Dies At 60, Leaves Legacy Of Heart And Hard Work

Not too long ago basketball lost Darryl Dawkins, who was a wonderful player in many respects, but in Philly, he was the understudy to Moses Malone, and Moses...well, Moses was in many respects the player that Dawkins should have been.

Malone died Sunday before appearing in a charity golf tournament. He leaves behind a powerful legacy in basketball.

Like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, Malone didn't overpower a lot of people. He was a 6-10 center in an age when guards were starting to be nearly that tall (Johnson played point at 6-9).

Only a few years earlier there was some controversy over Doug Collins playing guard at 6-6.
