DURHAM, N.C. – Senior forward Heather Morris was tabbed the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week following a career-high performance against James Madison Sunday.
Morris, who hails from Pottstown, Pa., recorded four goals in the Duke field hockey team’s 7-1 victory over the Dukes. Her efforts helped the Blue Devils improve to 6-0 to match the 1978 and 2014 squads for the best start in program history.
Morris notched all four of her scores in the first half as Duke jumped out to a 6-1 halftime lead. The senior captain found the back of the cage twice with powerful backhand shots and successfully converted a penalty stroke in the 25th minute for her third career hat trick.
