DURHAM – Duke men's soccer sophomore Shakur Mohammed was drafted as the second overall pick by Orlando City FC on Wednesday evening.
Mohammed becomes the second top-five selection in as many years after Thorleifur Ulfarsson was picked fourth overall by the Houston Dynamo in the 2022 SuperDraft, and the seventh total dating back to the creation of an MLS College Draft in 1996. He joins Ulfarsson, Jeremy Ebobisse (2017), Andrew Wenger (2012), Ali Curtis (2001), Jay Heaps (1999) and Brian Kelly (1997).
