BALTIMORE – Junior Alexander Merriman rounded out the Blue Devils’ stay in Baltimore at the December North American Cup (NAC), finishing tied for 45th in Sunday’s Division II Men’s Foil event.
Merriman got off to a fast start in pool play, finishing with a 4-2 mark and a +9 indicator to earn a high seed in the elimination bracket. The Duke foilist easily defeated Paul Wang in the round of 128, using a 15-5 victory to advance to the round of 64 before falling to Kirel Lesnikov by a hard-fought 15-14 margin to end his day.
