ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The men's soccer exhibition match between No. 4 Duke and UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon was suspended due to inclement weather, with the Blue Devils leading 1-0, after just 20 minutes of play. The two teams will continue play Sunday afternoon, in Durham, at 2 p.m. The remainder of the exhibition will be closed to the public.
The Blue Devils struck first during the limited action on Saturday, with Nick Pariano connecting on a diving header in the second minute, putting home Duke's opening goal of the preseason. The senior, who was recently named the USL League Two Mid-Atlantic Division Player of the Year, is one of several starters who returns from the 2022 squad that finished undefeated in the regular season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals.
