DURHAM, N.C. – Duke junior safety Jeremy McDuffie underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a fractured right thumb. He will be out of action indefinitely.
The procedure was performed by Dr. David Ruch, an orthopaedic surgeon and chief of hand surgery at Duke.
A 5-11, 175-pound native of Snellville, Ga., McDuffie entered the preseason as the starter at the Strike safety position after transitioning from cornerback during spring drills. In 24 career games, he has amassed 34 tackles and one interception.
Also a member of the Duke Track & Field program, McDuffie earned All-ACC citations this past spring in the triple jump (50-9.
