DURHAM, N.C. -- Graduate student Brian McAfee was named the Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week after his performance Sunday, May 1 against then-No. 10 NC State.
McAfee turned in his seventh quality start of the season to help Duke capture a 2-1 road victory over the Wolfpack in Sunday’s series finale. The right-hander allowed just one first-inning run and shut down the Wolfpack the rest of his outing. McAfee scattered seven hits (just one for extra bases), struck out five and walked one. He exited the game with one out in the seventh in a 1-1 tie.
