Duke sophomore Matthew Hurt has been voted the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) District III Player of the Year, while also being named to both the USBWA and National Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) All-District Teams.
Hurt becomes the fourth consecutive Duke player to earn USBWA District Player of the Year honors, and the seventh Blue Devil in the last nine seasons to do so. Duke has had at least one USBWA All-District selection in 14 consecutive years. The Blue Devils boast 88 all-time USBWA All-District picks, with 72 coming under head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
