TEMPLETON, Calif. – Duke women’s tennis freshman Maria Mateas concluded competition at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) 60k at the Templeton Tennis Ranch in Templeton, Calif.
“Maria did a great job all week,” assistant coach Matt Manasse said. “The thing that impressed me the most was the professionalism of her practices and how she prepared for the tournament. She was focused and detailed. Today, she battled for three and a half hours and came up just short against a great player ranked 249 in the world. There’s so much she can add and improve in her game and it will be fun to get back to work as this should help her prepare for All-American next week.
