PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Duke women’s tennis freshman Maria Mateas continued her strong run Friday afternoon at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif., by advancing to the semifinals of the singles main draw.
Mateas, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., has proved to be a force on the court as a rookie. The top-ranked singles freshman by the ITA defeated No. 60 Alexa Graham of North Carolina (6-2, 6-3) during action in the round of 16 before besting Wake Forest’s No. 16 Emma Davis (6-4, 6-0) en route to the final four.
