DURHAM, N.C. – At the NCAA Women’s Soccer College Cup banquet Thursday evening at the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, N.C., Duke University sophomore Casey Martinez received the Elite 90 award.
Martinez, majoring in Biology, currently carries a 4.0 grade-point average. She has appeared in 22 matches, while making two starts. A native of Towson, Md., Martinez has registered four assists in the four 2015 NCAA Tournament matches for the Blue Devils.
The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
