BLACKSBURG, Va. – A first place finish in the women's pentathlon by graduate student Erin Marsh, and a record-breaking 3000-meter run from classmate Nick Dahl highlighted the first day of competition for the Duke track & field at the Hokie Invitational.
Marsh secured the event's top placement for the second consecutive year with a total of 4,172 points. Her performance featured a first-place finish in the high jump (891 points), as her leap measured 1.73m (5-8 feet). Dahl shattered the 10-year-old Duke record in the 3000m and clocked the program's first sub-eight-minute time in the event, finishing in 7:59.
