Last year, Duke University announced that the athletics department would be adding softball as its newest varsity sport for the 2017-2018 school year. The Blue Devils took a huge step forward in implementing the softball program after Director of Athletics Kevin White recently announced the hiring of Marissa Young as the first head coach of the new team.
Before taking on the head coaching job at Duke, Young was an assistant for UNC’s softball team and was also on the coaching staff at Eastern Michigan as an assistant and head coach of Concordia University in the NAIA.
