DURHAM, N.C. – In a change of plans, Duke junior Leona Maguire decided not to compete in the Tipsport Golf Masters tournament on the Ladies European Tour and instead play in the Ladies British Open Amateur June 21-25 at Dundonald Links in the United Kingdom.
Maguire, who hails from Cavan, Ireland, is coming off helping lead Great Britain & Ireland (GB&I) to an 11 ½ to 8 ½ victory over the United States. Currently ranked No. 2 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, Maguire will look to become the second straight Blue Devil to win the event as recent graduate Celine Boutier won the Ladies British Open Amateur last summer.
