GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke University sophomore Leona Maguire and freshman Virginia Elena Carta turned in top 10 finishes at the 2016 ACC Championship Sunday as the Blue Devils placed third overall as a team at the 6,089-yard, par 72 Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
For the second straight year, Virginia cruised to the ACC Championship with a 54-hole ledger of nine-under-par, 855, to win by 11 strokes over Wake Forest (866). The Blue Devils carded rounds of 294, 296 and 293 on its way to finishing third with an 883.
“We don’t have any reason to hang our heads,” said Duke head coach Dan Brooks.
