DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's lacrosse junior goalkeeper Sophia LeRose was named IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday.
LeRose helped propel the Blue Devils to victories over Mount St. Mary's (19-3) and No. 12 Maryland (13-12) in NCAA first and second round games over the weekend.
The San Diego, Calif., made 18 saves in her two games while only giving up 14 goals and added seven ground balls.
In the victory over Maryland, Duke was held without a goal for the final 20 minutes as the Terps tallied six goals in the second half to pull within one (13-12) late in the contest.
