Thursday night was the first round of the NFL Draft, and there were 32 players selected. One of those players selected was former Duke offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson by the Detroit Lions with the 28th overall pick.
Tomlinson will join an offensive line that struggled mightily last year as the Lions were one of the worst running teams in the league and allowed 45 sacks. Tomlinson figures to step in and start right away for the Lions at one of their guard positions and should be an instant improvement.
Tomlinson was drafted above most projections, as the highest he was expected to go in mock drafts was number 32 to the Patriots.
