DURHAM, N.C. – Duke head men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski underwent successful total knee replacement surgery this morning at Duke University Hospital.
The surgery on Krzyzewski’s right knee was performed by Michael P. Bolognesi, M.D., joint replacement orthopaedic surgeon at Duke University Medical Center.
“The surgery went very smoothly,” Dr. Bolognesi said. “Coach is already in the recovery room and he is in good spirits. We hope that we will be able to get him up and walking as early as this afternoon.”
Krzyzewski could be released from the hospital within one to three days and will begin a rehabilitation program at Duke.
