ROANOKE, Va. –The Duke University wrestling team opened its 2017-18 season with a solid showing at the annual Hokie Open at the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Va. The Blue Devils finished the long day of wrestling with three titles, a runner-up and two fifth-place showings combined in the open and freshman-sophomore divisions.
The Blue Devils improved on their two titles a season ago with the young talent performing well in their first collegiate action. In the open division, it was senior Jacob Kasper capturing his second consecutive crown at heavyweight. Mitch Finesilver, wrestling unattached, brought home top honors at 157, while Alec Schenk took fifth at 197.
