Jones Tabbed Gatorade National Player of the Year

DURHAM, N.C. – The nation’s top player will be calling Durham home for the next four years, as Sophie Jones was named the 2018-19 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

The honor recognizes Jones, who was tabbed the 2018-19 Gatorade California Girls Soccer Player of the Year last week, as the nation’s top high school player in the sport.

Jones led Menlo School to a 20-2-2 record and the Central Coast Section Division I sectional tournament title in her final season. The midfielder recorded 18 goals and 16 assists despite missing the final two contests of the season while training with the U.
