DURHAM, N.C. – After being announced as the weekend starter last Tuesday, former Duke quarterback Daniel Jones made his first career start for the New York Giants on Sunday.
And boy did he impress. The No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft completed his first four passes for 53 yards, including gains of 26 yards to wide receiver Sterling Shepard and 18 yards to tight end Evan Engram.
He finished the game 23-of-36 (.639) for 336 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Jones shined via the ground game as well and showed his legs on the first play of the second quarter, scrambling for 11 yards to convert a 3rd-and-5.
