CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Wrapping up the final day of the Tobacco Road Multis Friday at Eddie Smith Field House on the campus of the University of North Carolina, redshirt senior Karli Johonnot turned in a stellar performance from start to finish, winning the pentathlon and setting the Duke record in the process with 4,282 points. Factoring in the flat track, that score converts to a 4,304 total and gives Johonnot a solid early mark in regard to NCAA qualifying.
In the heptathlon, sophomore Tanner Johnson led Duke andfinished as the top collegiate competitor and second overall with 5,259 points over the two-day event, trailing only Emerald Forces’ Mike Morrison’s score of 5,436.
