DURHAM, N.C. – For the third time Wednesday, a Duke Blue Devil was chosen in the 2019 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, as sophomore right-handed pitcher Bryce Jarvis was taken in the 37th round (1,125th overall pick) by the New York Yankees.
Jarvis is the fifth Blue Devil to be selected in this year’s draft, joining teammates Graeme Stinson (Tampa Bay Rays, fourth round, 128th overall), Ben Gross (Minnesota Twins, 10th round, 299th overall), Kennie Taylor (New York Mets, 14th round, 418th overall) and Adam Laskey (Chicago Cubs, 19th round, 582nd overall).
