DURHAM – Sophomore men's basketball player Matthew Hurt has been selected Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead his team to win at Notre Dame Wednesday night.
Hurt poured in a team-high 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting as No. 21 Duke beat the Fighting Irish, 75-65, in the ACC opener for both teams. The sophomore from Rochester, Minn., pulled down seven rebounds and matched a career high with a game-leading four assists in a career-high 38 minutes.
A watch list candidate for the Naismith Trophy and the Wooden Award, Hurt has scored 18+ points in four consecutive games this season, after having four such games last season.
