DURHAM, N.C. – Former Duke linebacker Ben Humphreys was named the recipient of the University Scholar-Athlete award by the National Football Foundation’s Bill Dooley Chapter.
Humphreys, a Newport Beach, Calif., product, received four letters and a trio of Academic All-ACC accolades. He appeared in 47 career games with 36 consecutive starting assignments at linebacker to cap his career. During his four years in Durham, Humphreys registered 273 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 9.0 quarterback sacks, 21 quarterback pressures, five pass breakups, five fumble recoveries, two caused fumbles and two interceptions. He finished with 10 or more tackles in nine games including a career-high 16 stops against Virginia Tech in 2016.
