CARY, N.C. – The Duke women’s tennis team concluded play Sunday morning at the Duke James Bonk Invite in Cary, N.C., with two Duke freshmen earning victories in the final of their respective draws. The two freshmen, Jessica Ho and Kaitlyn McCarthy, remained unbeaten in singles play throughout the weekend of competition.
For the third consecutive singles match, Ho required three sets to earn the win, clinching the Royal draw title with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over Ansley Speaks of Furman. McCarthy nearly went into a third set in her contest against Skylar Morton of Virginia, but a decisive tiebreak in the second set allowed her to take the win, 6-2, 7-6 (6).
