DURHAM, N.C. – Duke redshirt junior Daniel Helm has been selected to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, which honors the nation’s most outstanding tight end by the Friends of John Mackey. It is the first year Helm has been on the watch list.
Helm, a 6-4, 245-pound native of Chatham, Ill., is charted as the Blue Devils’ starting tight end this season after playing in all 12 games of the 2016 campaign.
Last fall, Helm caught 21 passes for 235 yards (11.19) and two touchdowns. He tallied five games with two or more receptions, including a season-high six grabs at Georgia Tech.
