DURHAM, N.C.—Duke sophomore goalkeeper Piper Hampsch has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first weekly award in her young career.
In the Blue Devils' first road game of the season, Hampsch came up big with a season-high nine saves, including four in a wild fourth quarter, to help lead Duke to a 3-1 victory at No. 13 Princeton.
The second-year starter in goal kept the Tigers at bay in the first quarter, making three stops and keeping Princeton off the board despite its three penalty corners.
